Asking at checkout
A buyer is only ever written to about your store’s news and offers after saying yes. With Ask at Checkout on (its card at the top of the Subscribers tab), the checkout shows a box above Pay: “Email me news and offers from” and your store’s name. It starts unticked. On a store with terms, it stands over the terms tick.- It is asked on your store’s checkout, in an embed and in the Checkout Kit, where its class is
.shoply-kit-consent. Never on an invoice or a payment link you sent. - It is asked once, as the buyer first presses Pay. A buyer who ticks it has a line on the order’s timeline saying so, with its time.
- The buyer becomes a subscriber once that order is paid. A box ticked on an order nobody paid subscribes nobody.
Subscribers
The Subscribers tab is everybody who ticked the box, newest first: their address, when they said yes, where (your store, an embed or the Checkout Kit) and on which order, and whether they still want your emails. Search by address, and Show narrows it to Subscribed or Unsubscribed.
Unsubscribe in a row’s menu takes a buyer off. Only ticking the box again, on an order they pay, puts them back. Export CSV makes a spreadsheet of the list as it is shown.
One no is a no to both. A buyer who unsubscribes from a Win-Back email, from a Cart Recovery email, or whom you take off, gets neither kind from your store again. Receipts and every other email about an order still go. A buyer who later ticks the box again on an order they pay gets both again.
Win-Back
Win-Back writes to subscribers who have not ordered in a while. Turn On Win-Back switches it on, and the card at the head of the tab says what it does and switches it off again.
They are sent in your store’s name, with no social icons under them, from a mailbox of their own, as Cart Recovery’s are, and not the one receipts come from.
Each has its switch and an edit button. Edit sets when it goes (the first 14 to 90 days after the last order, the second 3 to 30 days after the first) and, for the second, its coupon: none, or 5% to 25% off. Its subject and its words are in Email Templates. Without a coupon the second email says “We’d love to see you again”. With the first switched off, a buyer gets the second only, as many days after their last order as the two together.
The coupon is made for each buyer, good for 7 days and one use, and filed in the Win-Back category of your coupons, which you cannot rename and which does not count toward your store’s coupons. The buyer types it at checkout. The emails’ button leads to your store’s home page.
Who is written to
A buyer is written to about their last paid order at your store, where:- they are subscribed;
- no order of theirs was ever disputed;
- they are among Who Gets Them: everyone subscribed, or only the customers wearing one tag, such as VIP.
The figures and the buyers
A won back order is a paid order like any other, already in your revenue, and its timeline says which email won it back.
The list under the figures is every buyer Win-Back is following: a buyer shows a week before their first email is due, as Due Soon with when. Then First Email Sent, Second Email Sent, Won Back, Unsubscribed, or Stopped, with why. Search by address, and Show narrows it, to Clicked among others. A click is counted as Cart Recovery counts one: close, but not exact.
