Setting them up
On a product’s Variants tab, press Edit on the variant, open Delivery, and switch Custom Fields on. The first question opens straight away. Press Back to Fields to see the list, where Add Field adds another and a row’s menu deletes one. Drag a row to change the order the buyer is asked in. The questions are saved with the product, by Save Changes. Switching Custom Fields off stops the buyer being asked, and keeps the questions for when you switch it on again.
A variant can ask up to 10 questions.
Where the buyer answers
- On the checkout, on a page of their own titled For Your Order, before the payment, on a phone as on a computer. Continue to Payment takes the buyer to the payment page, where their answers are one row under their email, with Edit to go back to them. With several products asking, each product’s name is over its own.
- In an embed, the same way: once the buyer has picked an option, the questions on their own with Continue to Payment, then the payment, with the answers on one line and Edit.
- In the Checkout Kit, the same way again: the questions on their own in the
paymentpiece with Continue to Payment in thepaypiece, then the payment methods with the answers on one line.
Where the answers are
- On the order’s page, in a Custom Fields card under what was delivered, each answer under its question, with a copy button beside the short ones.
- In the orders file from Export CSV, in a Custom Fields column: every answer of the order, or the line’s own when each row is a product line.
- In the API, as
customFieldson the order: a group for each variant, each answer with its key, its label and its type. The same order is in your webhooks. - In the request to your own server for dynamic delivery, as
customFields, the line’s answers by key:{"discord_username": "ada"}.
From your own server
A variant’s questions are itscustomFields, and its switch is customFieldsOn, in Create a product and Update a product. Either left out of an update stays as it is.
