# Set up Skrill

> Your Skrill merchant email, secret word and currency

Skrill takes cards, a buyer's Skrill wallet and the local methods of their country, on its own page. You need a Skrill merchant account.

## In Skrill

1. Note the email address your Skrill merchant account signs in with.
2. Open **Settings**, then **Developer Settings**, and set your secret word. Note it exactly: Skrill signs every payment it confirms with it, and a payment whose signature does not match completes nothing.
3. Note the currency your Skrill account holds.

There is nothing else to set up in Skrill: each payment carries the address Skrill reports to.

Skrill's own test merchant takes Skrill's test cards with no money moving: the email `demoqco@sun-fish.com` and the secret word `skrill`.

## In Shoply

1. In your Shoply dashboard, open **Settings**, then **Payment Methods**.
2. Under **Add a Payment Method**, find **Skrill** and press **Connect**.
3. Paste the email into **Merchant Email** and the word into **Secret Word**, and type the currency into **Account Currency** as three letters: `EUR`, `USD`, `GBP`.
4. Press **Test Connection** to try what you pasted, then **Connect App**.

Saving checks with Skrill that it takes payments for that email address. The secret word and the currency are proved by your first payment.

How Skrill works once it is connected, at the checkout and on an order, is in [Payment methods](/guides/payment-methods.md#skrill).
