# Set up Cryptomus

> Making a Cryptomus merchant, and where its keys are

Cryptomus takes crypto on your checkout. Its keys come from a merchant, which Cryptomus has to approve first.

## In Cryptomus

1. Open **Business**, then **Merchants**, and create a merchant.
2. In the merchant's settings, leave a request: enter your store's address and a description, and press **Submit**.
3. Confirm that the address is yours, as Cryptomus asks. Its docs show the ways only in pictures, so follow what its dashboard shows.
4. Once Cryptomus has approved the merchant, open its **Settings** tab and copy the **Merchant ID** and the payment API key.

Use the payment key. The payout key, which Cryptomus keeps in your account's own settings, is for sending money out, and Shoply never asks for it.

## In Shoply

1. In your Shoply dashboard, open **Settings**, then **Payment Methods**.
2. Under **Add a Payment Method**, find **Cryptomus** and press **Connect**.
3. Paste the **Merchant ID** and the key into **Payment API Key**.
4. Press **Test Connection** to try what you pasted, then **Connect App**.

**Test Connection** says whether the keys work and how many coins the merchant takes.

How Cryptomus works once it is connected, at the checkout and on an order, is in [Payment methods](/guides/payment-methods.md#crypto).
