# Settings

> What each part of a store's settings holds: the email a buyer is sent, the coupon a first order earns, your policies, and what Shoply tells you

Settings opens over whatever page you are on. Press **Settings** in the dashboard's rail, pick a part from its list, and close it when you are done: the page behind it is as you left it. A change shows a bar at the foot of the window with **Save Changes** and **Discard**.

## What is where

| Part | What it holds |
| - | - |
| **General**, **Branding**, **Business** | The store's name, description, ID and whether it is open; its logo, icon and accent colour; the business name and country that [Finance](/guides/finance.md) asks for. |
| **Policies** | Your terms and your refund policy, under **Business**. |
| **Domains** | The store's myshoply.gg address, and [a domain of your own](/guides/custom-domain.md). |
| **Statistics** | What buyers see about your stock and your sales. |
| **Links** | Where buyers go for help, and where they find you. Your socials show on your store and under your store's emails, but for Cart Recovery's and Win-Back's. |
| **Payment Options** | Three parts, folded together in the list: **Payment Methods**, [how buyers can pay](/guides/payment-methods.md); **Payment Routing**, [several card processors behind one card row](/guides/payment-routing.md), and a declined card moved on to the next; and **Order Settings**, what happens after an order is placed: how long an [unpaid order](/guides/payment-methods.md#unpaid-orders) is kept, its automatic [review](/guides/reviews.md), and the coupon for a first order. |
| **Affiliates** | [The affiliate programme](/guides/affiliates.md) and its rates. |
| **Delivery Emails** | What the email with a buyer's order says. |
| **Notifications** | When Shoply tells you something, and where. |

The rest of this page is the four parts no other guide covers.

## Delivery emails

Every paid order sends its buyer one email with what they bought. Two things in it are yours.

| | |
| - | - |
| **Default Instructions** | Shown in every delivery email, under whatever a variant's own instructions say. Use it for what is true of every order: where to ask for help, how long a key is good for. |
| **Buttons** | Up to four, each with its words and its link. A saved link from **Links** can be dropped into the link box. Drag a button by its grip to sort them, and switch one off to hide it without deleting it. |

In the email the first button is filled, and every other one is a link in your store's colour beside it.

Two are always added after yours and cannot be removed: **View Your Order**, which opens the buyer's [customer panel](/guides/customers-and-balance.md), and **Leave a Review**, which opens the order's own page.

The email itself is plain on purpose: one white card with your logo at its head, and each key in a pale box to copy from. Under the card are the socials you set in **Links**, as small icons (not under [Cart Recovery's](/guides/cart-recovery.md) and [Win-Back's](/guides/win-back.md), where they would make the email read more like an advert), and then the small print. It is set in the reader's own device font, and nothing in it needs a light background, so it stays readable in a mail app's dark mode. Every email in your store's name (the receipt, an invoice, the first-order coupon, a sign-in code) looks the same way, but for Cart Recovery's first two and Win-Back's first, which are written as a short note.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Delivery emails and invoices are always in English, whatever language your store and your buyer read.

## Order settings

Under **Payment Options**, three things that happen after an order is placed.

**Unpaid Orders** says how long an order nobody pays is kept before it is cancelled: see [Payment methods](/guides/payment-methods.md#unpaid-orders). It is saved as you choose it.

**Automatic Reviews**, on for a new store, gives an order with no review five stars seven days after payment, marked as automatic. See [Reviews](/guides/reviews.md).

**First-Order Coupon** is a thank-you for somebody's first order: a single-use code for their next one.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Send First-Time Buyers a Coupon** | The switch for all of it. Off, nothing is sent. |
| **Discount** | How much the code takes off. |
| **Expires After** | In days. `0` means it never expires. |
| **In Its Own Email** or **With the Delivery Email** | Whether the code arrives by itself after the order, or inside the email that delivers it. |

Each code works once, and appears on the **Coupons & Sales** page.

## Policies

**Terms of Service** and **Refund Policy** are yours to write. A buyer has to accept them at the checkout before they can pay, and both are pages of your store.

Each is a row that says whether it is written. **Edit**, or **Add** while it is empty, opens it to write in; **Done** closes it, and **Save Changes** keeps it.

A policy you leave empty is not shown.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The [Checkout Kit](/guides/checkout-kit.md) shows no tick and no link to either: there the checkout is on your own page, and your terms are yours to show on it.

## Notifications

Two ways of being told, each with its own switches.

### By email

| Setting | What it sends |
| - | - |
| **Email Me on Every Sale** | The customer, the total and what they bought. Replying reaches the customer. |
| **Email Me When Stock Runs Low** | One email listing everything that ran low, once a variant is at **Warn Me At** or fewer. |
| **Email Me When an Affiliate Asks for a Payout** | How much, and how they want to be paid. On for every store, and with no address typed it goes to your account's email. |
| **Email Me When a Payment Needs Checking** | A buyer says they paid with one of your [custom payment methods](/guides/custom-payment-methods.md): the amount, the reference and the order. On for every store, and with no address typed it goes to your account's email. |
| **Email Me When a Dispute Opens** | A buyer [disputed a payment](/guides/disputes.md) with their bank or payment provider, with the deadline to answer it by. On for every store, and with no address typed it goes to your account's email. |
| **Email Me How a Dispute Ended** | Won, lost or accepted. On for every store, the same way. |
| **Email Me About Support Tickets** | A new [support ticket](/guides/support-tickets.md), and each message a buyer writes on one, at most once a ticket in 15 minutes. On for every store, the same way. |
| **Send Alerts To** | The address they all go to. |

**Send Test**, beside the address, sends a sample delivery email there with a made-up product and key, the way a real one is sent. Nothing is added to your orders or your coupons. One every five minutes.

### On Discord

Switch **Notify Me on Discord** on and paste a webhook URL from your server: **Server Settings**, then **Integrations**, then **Webhooks**. Then pick what is posted.

| Post About | What is posted |
| - | - |
| **New Orders** | The buyer, the total and the delivered items. |
| **Low Stock** | A variant at its own **Warn Me At** or fewer. |
| **Errors** | Delivery emails that failed and orders that could not be fulfilled. |
| **New Reviews** | The stars, the words, the customer and the order. Automatic reviews are not posted. |
| **Payout Requests** | The affiliate, the amount and how they want to be paid. |
| **Payments to Check** | A buyer says they paid with one of your custom payment methods: the amount, the reference and the order. |
| **Disputes** | When one opens, with its deadline, and how it ended. |
| **Support Tickets** | A new ticket, and each message a buyer writes on one, with their words. |

**Send Test**, beside the webhook, posts a sample alert to the URL in the box, saved or not. Five in five minutes.

A webhook URL is kept encrypted and is never shown again: paste a new one to replace it, or press **Remove Webhook**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This is for alerts in a Discord channel. To have your own server told when something happens, use [webhooks](/guides/webhooks.md).
